An Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is an entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to Canada by air. It is valid for up to five years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.

Individuals who are neither Canadian Permanent Residents nor Citizens may apply for a work permit to work in Canada for the purpose of allowing foreign nationals to fill a labour shortage and to support economic growth in Canada.

Foreign nationals are required to obtain a study permit for engaging in academic, professional, vocational or other education or training that is more than 6 months in duration at a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada.

A Super Visa allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to temporarily reside in Canada and was implemented as a means to address the prolonged processing period of a parent sponsorship application
